wouldn't the total surface area of the hemisphere be half of the total surface area of the sphere? snd since the total surface are of a sphere is 4 x pi x r2, won't the total surface area of hemisphere be 2 x pi x r2?

Expert Answer
Remember that the total surface area is not equal to the curved surface area in case of hemisphere.
It is indeed true that the curved surface area of hemisphere is half that of the sphere.
But,in case of the total surface area of hemisphere,we add to the curved surface area the area of the circle that is at the top of the hemisphere.
