work=force*displacement then why is work done a physical quantity? even though the distance and force acting on the body are vector quantities

Expert Answer:

Dear student
Work is a scalar quantity because work is a dot product of two vectors i.e. force and displacement and dot product is a scalar quantity.
We hope this clarifies your doubt.
