Let the total number of camels be x.
Camels who ran into forest = 1/4 x
Camels who went to the mountain =2 x
Camels who went to the bank of the river = 15
Then,
x = 1/4 x + 2x + 15
3/4 x = 2x + 15
3x = 8x + 60
3x - 60 = 8x
On squaring we get
9x2 + 3600 - 360 x = 64 x
9x2 - 424 x + 3600 = 0
On solving the above equation using quadratic formula,
we get x = 36 and x = 11.1 (neglected, since number of camels cannot be in fraction)
