Expert Answer
- Chemical energy is the energy stored in the bonds of chemical compounds. This chemical energy may be released during a chemical reaction, often in the form of heat.
- In case of fossil fuel such as coal, wood, the energy which was derived from the Sun is stored in chemical bonds between atoms and molecules in the form of chemical energy.
- When you burn coal at a power plant, the heat helps to release some of the chemical bonds which radiates energy which releases even more bonds. Here, the chemical energy is converted into electrical energy.
