CBSE Class 12-science Answered

why the base in a transistor is thin &lightly doped?

answered-by-expert Expert Answer

Hi dear,

1. If the base was wider, then the emitted electrons from emitter would be held back in base rather moving to collector pin.

2. the lightly doped region would reduce the generation of heated electrons, which would inturn make the transistor dissipate more heat.

Hope this satisfies your question.
