why the base in a transistor is thin &lightly doped?

Hi dear,
1. If the base was wider, then the emitted electrons from emitter would be held back in base rather moving to collector pin.
2. the lightly doped region would reduce the generation of heated electrons, which would inturn make the transistor dissipate more heat.
