why sun appears white when it is overhead ?

The sun appears reddish when more of red color reaches you. This happens when the sun is far away and most of the blue gets scattered away.

When the sun is overhead, sunlight passes through less of the atmosphere, and is scattered less, than when the sun is at the horizon.So it appears white.
