Why should Curd and some substances not to be stored in brass and copper vessels?

Curd and sour substances should not be kept in brass and copper vessels because they are acidic in nature and can react with brass and form poisionous salts which is harmful to us. It also detoriates the quality of vessels by eaing up the metal thus rendering it unuseful in the long run.
