Why should an equation be balanced?

Expert Answer:
Chemical equations need to be balanced so you know how much of the reactants you need to make a certain amount of product. It could also tell you how much or how little of a product you will get from the reaction. In order to get an accurate picture the number of atoms need to be equal on both sides of the reaction.
