why is water sprayed on roads in the evenings during hot summer?

The water is sprinkled in order to get relief from severe heat of summer .
In summer the roads become very hot and when water is sprinkled onto it,  water absorbs the heat
as it requires energy to vapourise. This energy is provided by the heat of the road .which cools down the
temperature of the roads.. This is the reason for sprinkling water on the road
