WHY IS THERE LATERAL DISPLACEMENT THROUGH GLASS SLAB?

Expert Answer:
Because of refraction through the glass slab.Due to refraction, the path of light ray bends. In a glass slab there are two interfaces where refraction takes place. So there is a shift in the original path by a significant distance.
