Why is the direction of current opposite to that of flow of electrons.

Actually earlier, it was thought that current was considered of flow of positive charge. At that period electrons and their flow to costitue current was not discovered. So even after thier discovery, due to the old convention the direction of current is considered opposite to the flow of electrons
