why is swimming in river water easier than swimming in sea water

Expert Answer
Density of river water is less compare to the density of sea water(due to salt contents).
Upward thrust experienced by the swimmer is directly proportional to density difference.
since density difference is more if the swimmer swims in river water, he/she experiences more upward thrust and finding the swimming easier in river.
