why is it that only 1 Pi molecule gets to bond with ADP molecule and not more than 1?

It could happen leading to formation of adenosine tetra and pentaphosphate. We find both in nature. But their energienics aren't such that they are important as energy carriers. They are thought to play important roles as metabolic regulation molecules. For example - Adenosine 5' tetraphosphate appears to act as a regulator of intraocular pressure and may also play a significant role in the physiological regulation of vascular tone.
