CBSE Class 9 Answered

why is it that metals have a tendency to loss electrons and not gain?

Expert Answer

Metals have large atomic radius and low ionisation energy so they loose electron easily and are electropositive. Metals have weak nuclear pull due to large atomic size so electron affinity is low.
