WHY IS ICE AY 273K MORE EFFECTIVE IN COOLING THAN WATER AT THE SAME TEMP.?

Expert Answer
The ice at 273 K is more effective.During the cooling process it gets converted to water at 273 K.During the conversion it requires heat energy equal to it's latent heat.Hence surroundings cool down after giving this amount of heat to ice.Hence ice is a better cooling agent.
