why is area enlosed under v-t graph not called distance as distance =v multiplied by t ?

Pls note :-
Velocity x time = Displacement ( not distance, as velocity is a vector quantity ).
speed x time = distance
The area enclosed between the velocity-time sketch and x-axis ( i.e. time axis) gives displacement of the body.
