The fruits in which no part of the flower develops along with the ovary are called true fruits. However, in case of apple, thalamus and other floral parts also show proliferation along with the development of the ovary wall. Hence, it is considered as a false fruit.

Difference between fruit formation of apple and mango

Apple

Mango

1. It is a false fruit as it develops primarily from the other floral parts.

1. It is a true fruit as it develops primarily from the ovary of a flower.

2. Apple is the pomaceous fruit of the apple tree.

2. Mango is a juicy stone fruit of the mango tree.

4. Apples are crispy when ripe.
