People prefer to hold other bank accounts rather than multiple option deposit account (MOD account) because many leading banks are offering multiple investment and service options and also able to access many of them from their bank account. So it is not necessary to open multiple accounts for availing different services. MOD account has following disadvantages-

1. Maintaining minimum balance in multiple accounts
2. Lower the income of the depositors in multiple accounts
3. Multiple debit/credit cards along with multiple cheque books- adding to your cost
4. Security threat
5. Cumbersome tax returns calculation
