Why does elephant float on water after having so much of volume?

Yes, elephants do float due to their high fat content which also keeps them warm in 
cold water. Elephants are naturally buoyant, making it easy for them to float in the water, but the biggest advantage is their trunk. When swimming, elephants can raise the tip of their trunk above the water and breathe through it like a snorkel. This allows them to be underwater for as long as they like, which is especially helpful in the wild when crossing large, deep rivers.
