Why does conductivity of a solution decreases with dilution?

Expert Answer:

The higher the concentration of ions in solution, the higher will be its conductivity.

Therefore, concentrated solutions will have higher number of ions and hence higher conductivity. Whereas, diluted solutions will have lesser number of ions and hence, low conductivity.
