Rights are necessary in a democracy because of the following reasons:
- They are every important for the very sustenance of a democracy. This can happen only when the people are given the right to vote and select its own government. Also, people should have a right to express their opinions, form various political parties or participate in political activities.
- They play a specific role in democracy by protecting the rights of minorties by getting overpowered by the majorites. It makes sure that the majorities don't get the right to do as they please.
- They help the citizens by protecting them in case of any violations or anything that goes wrong with them. This can happen in the case wherein the majority might want to dominate the minority.
