why do the accumulation of chemical substances is more in the last trophic level tham other levels??

The pollutants in air or water tend to get concentrated with each trophic level. Thus, more toxicity is encountered at the last trophic level.
The chemicals or pollutants tend to get exponentially increased with each trophic level, thereby causing maximum harm to the last member of the food chain.
