Why do swimmers see objects sharply after wearing goggles?

Expert Answer:
because of water going into their eyes, as the water moves about the position of the objects seem to shift and thus the image formed is hazy.
now when we wear goggles, the shifting in this position is considerably reduced since the water never directly touches the eyes.
Also it is difficult to keep the eyes open underwater due to pressure and temperature and due to chemicels dissolved in water
