CBSE Class 8 Answered

why cotton is grown in black soil ?

Asked by vanshtyagi2345 | 13 Aug, 2020, 05:10: PM
Expert Answer
Cotton grows well in soil which can hold water and has good drainage (water is absorbed by the soil). Excessive water logging and moisture harms the cotton plant. Since black soil has a high level of clay, it has good water holding capacity that makes it suitable for the growth of cotton.
