Why carbon only forms covaslent bonds? Support the answer with two reasons.

Carbon need four electron to complete its octet and carbon doesn't have high nuclear charge to form ionic bond, carbon has only one option to do sharing with other atoms present nearby to him and that leads to the formation of covalent bond.
