why cannnot acetophenone be prepared easily starting from C6H5CH3.

Toluene and its derivatives are oxidized by strong oxidizing agents to benzoic acid. However, the reaction can be stopped at the aldehyde stage (but not at ketone stage) by using suitable reagent that converts the methyl group to an intermediate that is difficult to oxidize further.
Hence, toluene can not be converted into acetophenone.
