Expert Answer
John is a hypocrite who crticised the romance being too fantastic as portrayed in the best sellers. He proudly disagrees that characters from different backgrounds do not get involved with each other and that the reality is far different from that written in the books. We can easily say that he has double standards as he, a small time American salesman, himself chased and convinced a girl belonging to a royal British family; his own love story was none tye less extraordinary. The story shows how he went aaist all that he preached.
