why berilliyum chloride has a 0 dipole moment although Be-cl bonds are polar

Expert Answer:

BeCl2 has a linear molecule with a bond angle of 1800.  As two polar bonds are equal and opposite in orientation the net dipole will be zero as dipole is a force and a vector quantity.
