why arteries are deeply placed?????????

Arteries work under high pressure, since they have to bring blood to organs and limbs.
They are placed deep in the body so that in case of a wound or injury, the arteries are not cut. Otherwise large amount of blood will be lost, especially the blood carrying large amounts of oxygen.
In case of a superficial wound, the blood that is lost is at low pressure, from the veins.
