why are micelles not formed in solvents such as ethanol.....plz answer in detail

Expert Answer:

Water is ionic in nature. Ethanol is not an ionic compound. SO association of hydrophillic end of soap molecule with water is not possible. Hence the soap molecules do not orient themselves as a micelle.
