Why are electric bulbs filled with chemically inactive nitrogen and argon.?

Expert Answer
The filament of the gas if reacts with oxygen gets rusted and will decrease its shelf life. Inactive nitrogen and argon gas doesn't react with filament of bulb and also doesn't produce any spark
