ICSE Class 10 Answered
Wht Is damped Vibration?
Asked by Vineet Chauhan | 06 Oct, 2013, 08:54: AM
When a wave passes through the medium, the maximum displacement of the particles of the medium from their original undisturbed positions, is called amplitude.
It is the difference between the zero level and peak or trough of a radio, sound, seismic, or any other wave.
It is also called the height of a sound wave.
The SI unit of measurement of amplitude is metre (m).
Damped vibrations are those in which amplitude of vibration decreases with time after once applied with force.
These vibrations are real and are also called transient vibrations.
