Expert Answer
The Great Himalayn ranges are known as northern frontiers. The Himalayas influence the climate of India. It acts as a barrier to the cold winds which arise in Central Asia. (without the Himalayas the northern region of India would have been freezingly cold). The Himalayas also act as a barrier to the South West monsoon winds. When they strike the Himalayas, they shed their moisture bringing much needed rainfall in the northern parts of the country.
