No one particular person or a group of persons has risen as the leading force. A wide variety of opposition leaders, rights activists, bloggers and clerics have taken initiative in organising the protests. People like Dr. Ali Alekry, Ebrahim Sharif (leader of the National Democratic Action Society), Hassan Mushaima ( leader of the Haq Movement of Liberties and Democracy) and others have been arrested by the Bahraini authorities for fomenting dissent among the masses.
