A.C. Generator / Dynamo :
An a.c. generator / dynamo is a machine which produces alternating current energy from mechanical energy. An a.c. generator / dynamo is based on the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. The essential parts of an a.c. dynamo are : 1. Armature 2. Field Magnets 3. Slip Rings 4. Brushes.
D.C. Generator / Dynamo : The principle of d.c. generator is the same as that of a.c. generator. The essential parts of d.c. generator are also the same as those of a. c. generator except the slip ring arrangement. This is replaced by split rings or commutator arrangement.
