which bond does lanthanides form predominantly, ionic or covalent ??

Lanthanides form both covalent and ionic bonds, but predominantly ionic bonds. This is because lanthanides are very electropositive elements.
Ionic compounds are mostly formed with oxidation states +2 and +3.
We hope that clarifies your query.
