Some metallic containers may contain certain substances which lead to the rusting of metals. Such materials can also react with food and make it unfit for the consumption.

Some containers also corrode due to exposure to a humid environment.

For example – BPA i.e. Bisphenol A is present in the lining of some metallic bottles and cans used for food and beverages. This BPA can rust.
