Expert Answer:
For rocket launching Newton's third law of motion is responsible.
As, in a rocket the fuel is burnt to produce large quantity of gases. These hot gases escapes with a large force (action) through the nozzle at the bottom of the rocket. These escaping gases exerts an equal and opposite force (reaction) on the rocket. Thus, a rocket rises upwards due to the reaction exerted by hot gases escaping downward through the nozzle of the rocket.
