All the calculation of the final position, time of flight are made in the human brain. And accordingly a proper calculated movements with required accuracy are executed by the fielder at the instruction of his brain. 

The clue in balls motion is just telling us information about it's angle of projection, it's velocity, it's maximum height with our experiential reference, which we develop with practice.
