when a ball is dropped from a high height on a sand bed it creates a deeper depression as compared to the ball dropped from short height.why?

When a ball is at a certain height, it possesses a certain amount of potential energy. This energy is converted to kinetic energy when the ball is dropped.
Hence, if a ball is dropped from higher level, it gains more kinetic energy and it can penetrate more into the sand.
