What would be the advantages of exploiting resources with short term gains?

Dear student,
There are hardly any advantages of exploiting natural resources for short term gains. Because when we exploit our natural resources without any consideration for the future, we are destroying the balance of ecosystem, depleting our natural resources, polluting our environment and making life difficult for us as well as our future generations. So there cannot be any advantage in this approach.
A few people may become wealthy by this exploitation, but the cost of this would have to be borne by our environment and all our future generations. Hence there should be a judicious use of natural resources as they are limited in nature.
