CBSE Class 9 Answered
what will happen if there was no apical meristems in rootcaps

Expert Answer
Just below the rootcap, lies the apical meristem which is a region of actively dividing cells. This meristem produces new cells for the root cap and for root elongation. These new cells elongate, divide and differentiate into root parts. Now the root can grow in length and push through the soil.
If there was no apical meristem, no elongation or differentiation of root would occur.
