what will be the difference when a dilectric is inserted between the plates of capacitors connected to the battery and when the dielectric is inserted when the capacitors are dicharged?

when a dielectric is place between the plates of a charged capacitor, the dipoles in the dielectic allign them selves to the external field and creates a field of their own.
In case of a discharged capacitor, no such thing happens.
