Hormones

Enzymes

Hormones are substances that act as messenger of information that regulate the timing and speed of the processes that take place in the body. But hormones do not take part in the chemical processes responsible for such functioning

Enzymes act like catalyst that take part in the chemical processes. Without them the chemical processes will not take place at all or will be too slow.

Hormones are secreted by ductless glands

Enzymes are secreted by glands having ducts.

They are produced at one site and show their activities at other sites.

These are present in all cells and show their activity there.

Chemically, hormones may be classified as either proteins or steroids.

Enzymes are protein in nature

Hormones regulate body functions

Enzymes take part in metabolism

Hormones are specific to the target cell, tissue, or system.

Enzymes are substrate specific.

Hormones are degenerated after the reaction.

Enzymes are not changed after a reaction and could be used again.
