1) Nutrition - Giving proper nutrition to both cattle and poultry. They should also be given adequate water.
2) Hygiene - Placing cattle and poultry in clean and hygenic conditions
3) Housing - The animals should be placed in adequately spaced shelters, with well-ventilated roofed sheds that protect them from rain, heat and cold. Floor of the shelter needs to be kept dry always. Overcrowding should be avoided
4) Immunization - The animals should be protected from diseases by vaccinations. Also diseased animals should be kept isolated.
