Elections in India are considered democratic because of the following reasons:

  • Every citizen has been given a right to vote irrespective of his/her caste, creed, religion or gender.
  • In India, the citizens and parties can contest elections freely and fairly.
  • Free and fair elections are held at regular intervals.
  • An impartial body, the Election Commission of India supervises the election procedures. It can order re-election in the constituencies if elections are found to be rigged.
