The scattering of light by the colloidal particles is called Tyndall effect.
Tyndall effect works on the phenomenon of scattering of light.
When a strong beam of light is passes through a colloidal solution kept in a dark room, the path of the light beam through the colloid becomes visible. This occurs due to scattering of light through the colloidal particles.
