Trachea is a part of the respiratory system. It is a tube beginning at the larynx and continuing downwards to bifurcate into the bronchi. It allows air to pass into the lungs. It is also called windpipe.
Trachea are lined by incomplete C-shaped rings of cartilage. These ensure that trachea do not collapse.
