Expert Answer
- A silencer or a supressor is attached with internal screw threads to the end of the barrel
- This silencer has a huge volume compared to the barrel about 20 or 30 times more.
- This helps the pressurized gas behind the bullet to expand freely in that large volume of the silencer.
- So the pressure of the hot gas falls significantly and reduces the sound of a bullet shot.
