what is the role of gastric juices

Expert Answer:

Gastric juice contains HCl, pepsin and mucus.

HCl creates an acidic medium which helps the action of pepsin. It also kills the microrganisms.

Mucus protects the inner lining of stomach from the action of HCl.

Pepsin enzyme helps in protein digestion.
